Christmas Dinner (2020)

for the “Christmas Dinner”, in collaboration with Korean designer J. Kim, we highlighted the interweaving of Asian and Slavic understanding of food and culture.

Ingredients for AI’s part are based on white and bright colors, highlighted by strong light and figures of cooks. Fish in salt with pomegranate and kaffir lime was lying on snow-white tablecloths table. It is served by male cooks directly to guests. Breaking the salt, the cook removes the meat segment by segment, exposing the skeleton. He offers fish on a bamboo leaf with baked plum and a drop of kafir lime.

Part of J. Kim, on the contrary, was based on black color, depersonalization of the author of food, lack of gender role, and indication of authorship. This approach is very characteristic of the gastronomic agenda of Eastern civilizations, where women mostly work with food without a chance to be recognizable and appreciable, where the role of the collective prevails over the individual.
